the gathering of evidence (details)

A large roll of heavy paper is partially unrolled on the wall—one end curls into a scroll as it meets the corner of the wall while the other end is flush on the wall. An uneven horizontal band of dense writing runs across the paper: lines of black handwritten text intersect and overlap, rendering most of it illegible, save for some meandering sentences. The beginning of the text is written directly onto the wall (about 2” in width) and continues on the paper without interruption.
